Detailed description of Meadowbrook Golf Course

Meadowbrook Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located on the southwest side of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Meadowbrook Golf Course first opened for play in 1976. The course was designed by Garrett & David Gill.

Meadowbrook Golf Course is routed around Rapid Creek which comes into play on five holes. The routing is gently rolling with a good amount of trees shaping the fairways, and narrow in a lot of landing areas, and on the approach to the greens. The greens are large, good speed, and with a fair amount of undulation, and there's 60 bunkers on the course.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,933 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 5,623 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 575 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 149 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 9, the 575 yard par-6 challenge is also the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Meadowbrook Golf Course is # 12, a 203 yard par-3.

Meadowbrook Golf Course can be a difficult course has water hazards coming into play on fifteen holes, and a large variety of sand bunkers spread throughout its design. Hole #12, a 203-yard, par 3, requires a tee shot from an elevated box to the medium-sized green, which is protected by sand bunkers on either front side, and this hole is rated the easiest hole on the course.

I ranked this course on the "Supply & Demand" basis as there are a few courses and they can demand what ever price the play can handle. I paid $40 18/cart for special fall rates ($30 9/wlk) BUT in summer it would have been $63.00 which in Michigan this would have been a $30 round. The difficulty of this course comes from the yardages as almost all par 4's hover around the 400yd+ mark but are straight forward in layout. Playing from the Blues at 3,500yd/3,435yd @ 72.4 / 128 / Par 72 will give your long Irons a real workout on most 2nd shots. Found the fall conditions very good for the fairways/greens considering the geese were lurking near the winding river / pond, leaving their calling card behind. Fairway yardage is marked pretty good but the Par 3's could use yardage blocks somewhere on four (4) tee boxes. Nice flat course with sand bunkers protecting every green that lends itself to keeping pace of play moving right along. Worth playing in the early AM because its packed otherwise as I was told later.

Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Good condition, some thin spots in the fairway, but it is early in the season here and they had a cold rainy spring. Will play this one agiain. I think the design is one of those that is sneaky tough. Just doesnt look hard, but a trap here, a creek there, hit next to the bigh trees. Pretty soon you ahve a big number.

Enjoyable course.
